IPF Awareness

My Story

I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis 4 year ago after having had an intermittent continued cough, and increased breathlessness for over a year prior to diagnosis, which I thought was caused by getting older, a bit unfit, and a number of chest infections.

Pulmonary Fibrosis is a terminal life limiting disease where the lungs become stiffer over time and has a prognosis of between 3 to 5 years survival after diagnosis. It causes more deaths each year than leukaemia with over 5,000 people dying from PF each year.

It’s a little known disease that steels your breath and makes everyday living a huge challenge.
There is no cure at the moment which is why Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis and the BBC have got together to produce this hard hitting video BREATHE to help raise awareness of this devastating disease and help those struggling with this terminal disease of which I am one.  You can watch the video HERE  (please note, the video contains sensitive content so only watch if you feel comfortable to).

I ask you to please spread the word as it may help someone to be diagnosed earlier and slow down it's progression.
